Social Skills

Social Studies in Kindergarten is a multi-faceted curriculum, focusing on home, school, community, cultural traditions, and history.  Kidsmarts is Greenbriar’s social and emotional literacy program.  Students work together with their teachers to explore how to work with others, get along with peers, and solve problems in peaceful ways.  By the end of Kindergarten, we expect students to do the following within each area:

*recognize and recite their phone number

*recognize their first and last name

*identify family relationships

School

*accept responsibility and consequences for choices

*listen to others

*knowing your feelings

Community

*identify community helpers

*identify members of the school community

Citizenship

*recognize the American flag
